David Myers | a corn and cotton farmer from Texas
My name is David Meyers. I farm in Saint Lawrence, Texas, which is in Glasscock County.
When I first started farming, I was doing more conventional till. I used just an OEM John Deere of 1720XP planner with the “v” closing system as we transitioned into no-till farming.
I just wasn't having, I felt like the success I could have after seeing some of these products by Precision. I’m still using a 1720XP planter from John Deere. We are capable of, I think, planting a little bit faster with the Reveal system on it. We get a little more consistency without bouncing our bar, causing our row unit to bounce, by separating that cleaner system using the Reveal, which is on the bar. It's allowed me to push 7-8 miles an hour when I don't think I could do more than 4.5 mph from the conditions I'm in with our no-till operation.
We started running, Reveal and FurrowForce. I put them both on planner this year to start planting with.
The systems just allowed us to make adjustments in the cab, without having to get out to adjust each row individually and try to set them. And, we can set the whole planter across each row from in the cab and make changes as we need to, as we see it while we're physically planting.
Working with our local dealers with Precision, I've actually worked with multiple different dealers. If they're always available on the phone, they're knowledgeable. Precision's done a great job informing them on how things are supposed to work so they can relay that to us in the field. So, it's really, really helped me get across my acres efficiently this year, and it's doing a great job.
