How we can help?

Spacing? Depth? Speed? Residue? Seedbed? Which problem is costing you the most during planting? Look here to uncover the cost of poor planter performance . . . and simple solutions to fix them.

Populations. Spacing. Placement.

Higher populations mean that the placement of every plant - every seed - is critical. Corn plants closer than 4" sense high population and react to the high stress environment. But with a little effort, today's planters can achieve spacing accuracy of 97% or more. Find out how.

Depth. Compaction. Residue.

Uniform emergence is the most important event in a cornfield's year. Plants that do not emerge within 48 hours after their neighbors turn into "weeds". Creating a good, clean seed V, getting seeds to the bottom of the trench and eliminating compaction can get plants off to a uniform start.

Measure. Monitor. Control.

Find and Fix planter problems before they cost you a dime. New monitoring and sensing systems can identify expensive issues you can't detect in the shop. And with new control systems, you can set and forget critical functions like downforce adjustments, VR populations and Row Control.

Precision Meter

PopulationMax backing plate boosts performance in a wide variety of seed types.

Population Backing PlateThis replacement backing plate has four big advantages over metal plates:

  1. They are flatter – eliminating the skips that occur as fingers rock and roll over the warped spots on stamped metal plates.
  2. They match seed size – just swap inserts and you can change the aggressiveness of the backing plate to match flats and rounds.
  3. They reduce ricochet – the smaller exit hole reduces the chances that seeds can ricochet back into the meter.
  4. Population Max is a specialized poly backing plate that replaces the metal plate in your current meter. Population Max uses a special Kevlar impregnated poly to produce a flatter, more consistent platform for finger sets.

Now, our adjustable brush comes standard. So, you can quickly adapt to seed size.

Flatter is better. Stop doubles or triples. A flatter backing plate provides a solid base for fingers. A warped metal backing plate allows fingers to hold onto a group of seeds. The result in your field is a double or triple.

Stop skips due to ricochet. The large exit hole in metal backing plates allows seeds to bounce back into the meter. The PopMax exit hole is the same size and shape as the finger. So the finger effectively closes over the exit hole preventing seeds from bouncing back into the meter.

We designed the PopMax backing plate to accommodate different inserts for different seeds and crops. But once we developed the adjustable brush, we found that we could get top performance through brush adjustment eliminating the need to change inserts as we changed seed.

Your PopMax plate will come with an “A” insert. That insert, when used with the adjustable brush, will plant almost every commercial corn seed we can find. So it is the dominant insert used today. The “B” insert is used if someone is planting primarily flat corn seeds that have a heavy seed treatment. The “C” insert is used in some specialty crops and, based on the MeterMax® technicians observations, some unique commercial corn seeds.

The primary benefit of the replaceable insert is that you can change inserts when the original is worn. Just remove two screws and replace the insert. It costs just $6.25 to replace the insert – saving you money in the long run.

It pays to plant with Precision.
